Patriot Sheriff
Kentucky Sheriff takes on corruption in his own county government while fighting for the Constitutional Rights of the people he is sworn to serve.
It is a story that plays over and over again in Eastern Kentucky. It isn’t about moonshiners, or hillbillies or any of the things Hollywood likes to portray the Appalachian people to be, it is much worse. It is corruption in County Governments. A few years back many people in the Clay County and the Manchester area governments were arrested for corruption. Pulaski County Sheriff Sam Catron was murdered by a hired killer solicited by a known drug dealer that was running against him for Sheriff. I myself got a visit one day from then Rockcastle Sheriff Shirley Smith after I had wrote a letter to the editor in the Mount Vernon Signal. Sheriff Smith told me that I was “…pissing the wrong people off…” and said if I needed them they just might not come. Yet what has happened in Jackson County, Kentucky is so blatant that if I did not see it happening in my own county where I live I probably would not believe it.
By law when taxes are collected by the Sheriff he turns that money over to the county to pay the bills. The money collected is the money where people pay their property taxes. About a year and a half ago Sheriff Denny Peyman of Jackson County had his deputies and patrol cars taken from him by the county, and was accused of taking money from the county. At that time Sheriff Peyman called in Federal Auditors to track the money. This is not something anyone would do if they were guilty of taking County Funds and the audit ordered by Sheriff Peyman will answer a lot of questions. While the investigation has lingered on Sheriff Peyman has continued serving his county having to fight county government the whole time. This is quite disturbing since the people of Jackson County elected Sheriff Peyman to do the job of Sheriff, the County does not have the right to strip him of his deputies, patrol cars, or to withhold his and his deputies pay. They also have no right to form a County Police force to replace a duly elected Sheriff. A police force I myself have called and they refused to come out and take a complaint or investigate when I thought my property may have been being used without my permission to cook meth. For a year and a half Sheriff Peyman has had to be a one man Sheriffs Department, serving 13,331 people in a county that is spread out over 346.57 miles.
The Sheriff’s office has had to use emergency heating because the county refuses to fix the heat in his office. Sheriff Peyman has been forced to sue the County Judge Executive to make them pay for his recertification training which is the county’s obligation. They have also refused to pay other expenses telling creditors to sue the Sheriff. This type behavior out of any county government is not only illegal it is disgraceful. What is happening in Jackson County is they are trying to squeeze the Sheriff out and make him quit. But Sheriff Peyman is a fighter who refuses to give up and go home. When the county took his cruiser away from him he was forced to work out of a mustang that was taken due to forfeiture, it is questionable if this car is even safe to be on the road. See the pictures below of the car Sheriff Peyman is being forced to use as a cruiser. This is the condition it was in when he received it.

Notice damage to the front bumper with components missing, hood damage, left front quarter panel damage and extensive damage to the driver's door.
Notice
damage to the right front quarter panel
Notice the back of the car is the best looking part with four rusty bolts on the trunk lid where a spoiler once was mounted.
To have the County Sheriff driving around in a vehicle like this is a disgrace to the community, yet Sheriff Peyman labors on with head held high. Sheriff Peyman has gained national attention as a strong supporter of the second amendment right to keep and bear arms. He was the first Sheriff in the nation to stand up against unconstitutional gun laws saying he would not allow unconstitutional gun laws to be enforced in his county. Sheriff Peyman is a relentless supporter of the Constitution for the United States. He has spoken to state legislature at the State Capital and has spoken to many groups across the nation concerning the Constitution and the second amendment. On his facebook page, which can be found by typing Sheriff Denny Peyman in the facebook search bar, people across the country say things like, “I wish you were our Sheriff” or “Thank you for what you are doing.” Sheriff Denny Peyman has shown more integrity, dignity and character in his little finger then the remaining whole of Jackson County Government.
Voters in Jackson County need to realize what is going on and not let the corruption continue in Jackson County. They need to stand with the Sheriff and put an end to the corruption and crooked politics in Jackson County. In a time when many Police Chiefs and Sheriffs across the country are selling out to federal power and allowing usurpation of our rights and the Constitution any county with a patriotic Constitutional Sheriff like Sheriff Peyman needs to keep them.
Sheriff Peyman recently arrested both the County Judge Executive and his assistant. It was not surprising that the case was dropped for insufficient evidence since it was heard in Jackson County. However, I anxiously await the results of the federal auditors. It will be interesting to watch the guilty fall from their seats of power in County Government. I will be sure to write about it hear at aftip.weebly.com when it happens.
See the link below for the wymt.tv report where Sheriff Peyman arrested County Judge Executive William O. Smith and County Treasurer Beth Sallee on charges of abuse of public trust, engaging in organized crime including extortion or coercion, tampering with public records, forgery in the second degree, falsifying business records and criminal facilitation. It is ironic that the car Peyman is left to work out of, because the county could not take it from him, is the car that the County Judge Executive and the County Treasurer were hauled off to jail in.

Sheriff Peyman said yesterday, “There is a price to be paid for doing the right thing.” He has paid the price. What will the price be for those who have done the wrong thing?
